The Dane County Medical Interpreter Coalition was formed in 1995 and is currently made up of 11 public and private health organizations. Members came together to ensure quality language services for limited English proficient (LEP) populations in Dane County. The main initiative of the coalition has been the creation and implementation of a Spanish interpreter assessment program. In addition, the Coalition sponsors interpreter trainings and meets monthly to share best practices. The Dane County Medical Interpreter Coalition has been recognized as a national model program in a number of publications.
